Armored Platoon of the “Zośka” Battalion
The armored platoon of the “Zośka” Battalion was established on August 2, 1944, following the interception of two German Panther tanks. This event allowed the “Zośka” Battalion to form the only armored unit in insurgent Warsaw and the entire Home Army. The armored platoon played a crucial role in supporting the battalion and other Home Army units in Wola, notably during the attack on the “Gęsiówka” concentration camp on August 5, 1944. The final significant action of the armored platoon was covering the retreat of the “Zośka” Battalion from Wola to the Old Town.
