Battalion “Zośka” in defense of the Old Town

Defense of the Old Town was the next stage of the insurgent struggle of the “Zośka” Battalion, linked organizationally with other “Brody” units. Its subunits fought in the northern section of the defense, including the ruins of the the St. John of God Hospital, Zakroczymska Street and the building of the State Security Printing Works. As a result of the enormous pressure and the enemy’s superiority in equipment and men, as well as the great determination of “Zośka” soldiers, 200 of them fell in the Old Town.
