Battalion „Harnaś”

The loss of communication between individual companies led to the division of the unit into two parts. Companies „Grażyna” and „Genowefa” were cut off in Śródmieście, where they formed a new unit on August 3. Three days later, the newly promoted Lieutenant Marian Krawczyk took command of the Battalion, which adopted the name „Harnaś” after his nom de guerre. The ranks of the newly formed unit were reinforced by the detachment of Second Lieutenant Janusz Zapolski „Janusz.” Additionally, Company Commander Lieutenant Jan Piotrowski „Lewar” cooperated with „Harnaś,” although only formally subordinate to him.
